Lenovo ThinkPad Laptops
ThinkPad laptops are the flagship series of products from industry leader Lenovo. Lenovo became visible in the market after buying IBM in 2005 and has since continued IBM's long history.
The first ThinkPads were produced by IBM in 1992, and the first in the ThinkPad series (the IBM 2521 ThinkPad model) was actually a tablet computer. After 2005, production was taken over by Lenovo. To date, "thinking notebooks" are an integral part of IT culture, their appearance is evolving, but their design does not change much and you can not confuse them with another laptop computer.
Some love them for their small size, "handiness" and good performance, others hate them for their somewhat "clunky look" that changes little over time and the annoying keyboard layout swap, where the FN key is swapped with CTRL (those switching from other companies' laptops will feel this strongly, as they like to use CTRL+C, CRTL+V combinations).
However, everyone will appreciate interesting ThinkPad solutions, such as the famous bright red TrackPoint and Active Protection System (that is, an accelerometer that detects the moment your computer falls and parks driveru hard drive heads, so that it does not get damaged - now, in the time of domination of driverthose SSD solution less necessary, but many times saved the "life" of many a user).
ThinkPad's business line is the T series, spelled Txxx (e.g., T440, T480, T560).
What the following numbers mean:
- the first digit is the diagonal of the screen 4-14 inches, 5-15.6 inches
- the other two are processor generation - 40 is a 4th generation processor, 50 is a 5th generation processor, etc.
For example, Lenovo ThinkPad T480 is a laptop with a 14" screen and an 8th generation processor (Win 11 will definitely run on it), a Lenovo ThinkPad T560 is a laptop with a 15.6" screen and a 6th generation processor.
The T series also had its variants, e.g., the letter S after the designation was Slim, in a thinner casing (e.g., T430 and T430S), as the version grew, the letter S was "forgotten" and all versions were Slim. You may also encounter the letter P meaning Power (e.g., T450P).
Of course, the T series does not exhaust all models of laptops produced by Lenovo, we have several other series. Mention should also be made of:
- L series, W series and P series - workstations with increased high performance
- SL series - an economical series designed for small business, such a "truncated" T Series
- Edge series - the simplest notebooks for home use, there is also a series of IdeaPad - laptops for similar use not belonging to ThinkPads
- X1 series (X1 Extreme, X1 Carbon, X1 Yoga) - high-performance multimedia laptops for home and office, Carbon with reinforced chassis, Yoga is a "2-in-1" laptop with 180-degree rotating touch screen
- Lenovo Legion - a series of gaming laptops in which the manufacturer no longer uses the term ThinkPad.
