Will new games run on a used computer?
The computer game market continues to grow. Every now and then there are "fresh" titles. Unfortunately, requirements of the new games are getting bigger and bigger, because the technology used in them is also getting more advanced. This means that the newer the game, the higher the requirements for our PC may be.
Usually, when we buy equipment, even gaming equipment, it is with the idea that it will serve us for at least a few years. It also happens that we invest in used equipment, because it is simply cheaper than a new one.
Will the new game work on a used computer?
In the case of a gamer who wants to bet on buying a "second-hand" computer, an almost basic question often arises in his mind: "Will new games run on a used computer??".
The shortest and simplest answer to this question is: "it depends". Unfortunately, new AAA titles, which were created with modern components in mind, mean that the latest productions will run on older hardware, however, the fluidity of the game is usually unsatisfactory. Why? Because, for example, our "second-hand" equipment has too weak a graphics card, processor or not enough RAM.
However, there are several patents for firing up a new game on a used PC. One of them may be upgrading your computer. This doesn't always make sense, but sometimes such a solution works when, for example, we want to spread our expenses over time.
When we set our sights on modernization, we need to make sure beforehand, too, that the "renovation" is possible, and that after everything the PC will meet our expectations.
Requirements of new games are high. Is it worth it to improve old equipment?
The determinant that will answer the question "whether modernization makes sense?", there is a motherboard. It is worth noting in this case.
Ideally, in the case of a "second-hand" PC, the board should give the ability to support four bones of RAM or a PCI Express 3.0 x16 connector. Then the user is assured that the latest graphics cards will fit his motherboard.
The component that can be replaced to improve the efficiency of our PC is the processor. If only our motherboard allows it - you can start using a better one, and certainly the life of a gamer will immediately become more beautiful.
In gaming, the graphics card on which the smoothness of the display of animations depends is crucial. The newer the title, the greater the demands on the card may be, so this is an item that quickly loses its freshness.
When upgrading, also pay attention to RAM. You can either replace it completely, or add more memory if there is still room on the motherboard for it.
The necessary minimum in case our PC is to be used for gaming is 8 GB. Nevertheless, real hardware that can be described as "gaming" starts at 16 GB.
Let's also remember about the power supply unit, so that it is able to provide enough power for our components.
Czy games will "walk" on a used computer after modernization? They should, especially if we've managed to replace all the components with ones optimally suited to the requirements of the new games.
New games on a post-lease PC? It's also some way out!
If we don't feel like playing around with upgrading hardware, and we want to have relatively new games running on it, it's worth looking at post-lease hardware.
It is fairly new, but often at a much lower price than a fresh computer straight from the store. It has some history - many post-lease PCs come from offices, so we are sure they have been handled gently. Moreover, this type of equipment additionally comes with a warranty, which gives it an advantage over a "second-hand" computer.
New games on a post-lease PC should work if we can find more powerful hardware that meets the gamer's requirements for processor, graphics card and RAM.
Nevertheless, technology related to games is moving forward very quickly. So much so that the power of the hardware on which we play... ceases to matter. This is thanks to cloud gaming technology, or cloud gaming. This service is based on making the online game available in the form of a direct data stream. The game does not overload our computer, as it resides on the server of the title publisher's operator or platform operator.
This service is based on the premise of cloud computing, and the player can access the title using a website such as gefoce now. Such a solution ultimately matter that the recipient of the game can be a smartphone, laptop, or even smart TV, because the computational work is done on its servers by the company, which sends the final effect to our screen.
However, cloud gaming has its own requirements that affect the limitations of the service. It's all about fast enough internet. While in cities, especially the larger ones, there should be no problem, already in the countryside the connection may be too slow to enjoy this type of service.
The cloud gaming option was first made available in October 2004 by Japanese company G-cluster. A Polish player can currently use such services as Vortex, Google Stadia, GeForce Now, or xCloud, which becomes available on September 15, 2020 for the Polish market.
